Binnacle List - A ship's sick-list. A binnacle was the stand on which the ship's compass was mounted. In the eighteenth century and probably before, a list was given to the officer or mate of the watch, containing the names of men unable to report for duty. The list was kept at the binnacle.

Dear Friends and family, I think I told all of you about Bill and his health. He has not
been well since February with 5 pneumonias and 3 blood transfusions. Currently in rehab,
I have decided to bring him home which will be this coming Monday. He is getting
excellent care, but the P.T. part is now over, and the rest I can do right here at home. We
thank all of you for your cards, emails, telephone calls, visits and prayers. Bill has gained
12 lbs since he went to rehab, so he is getting stronger. I have rescinded the "comfort
care" and I'll be taking him to his team of doctors who know him best. Visiting hours will
be whenever you want to drop in. Thank you all for being there for us, you have no idea
how each one of you has help lift me up on some very dark days. XXX Barbara
